I had a job a few years back that I absolutely hated. Everyone there was an idiot, and I felt the need to pick up everyone's slack. They hired contractors to do their work for them because they were too damn stupid to do their jobs. At meetings, I would suggest better ways to do things, and people would hate me for it. The only people I got along with in the company were the CTO and one other guy who was just as fed up as I was. I would stay up until 4am every night because I knew the next thing I'd have to do is get up and go into this ***** job. My boss was an accountant before he was hired as an IT Manager. He didn't understand anything. They would budget for things, and then cut out redundancy at the last minute, and when ***** failed (like a WAN link), I would get yelled at.I was sick all the time. I had anxiety attacks. No amount of money would ever make me take another job like that. My well-being is worth more than anyone could pay me. Until you have a job that sucks, I mean REALLY sucks, it's hard to imagine how true this article is.My only consolation is that they really ***** up something after I left and it cost them millions, which wouldn't have happened otherwise. And a couple of years ago, they lost billions and were sold for pennies on the dollar.!
